» CAPTAIN POSITION ON A 130FT SAILING YACHT (AUSTRALIAN FLAGGED) (CHARTER AND PRIVATE)

Work Information:

A 130ft Sailing Yacht based in Australia is currently looking for an experienced Captain probably aged mid 40’s up, to join their crew of 5-6. The ideal candidate MUST have solid experience in cruising and Pacific experience would definitely be a bonus. Length of employment and a proven track record within the super-yachting world are required. Strong engineering is important, as are strong people skills. Charter background would be an advantage. The job is full-time, live aboard on a triple masted schooner, used for both charter and private, owned by an Australian who is very pleasant and relaxed. Candidate needs to be well presented and a keen sailor with a relaxed nature, approachable but oozing confidence in what they are doing. Non smokers are preferred.

The yacht will cover flights to the vessel within Australia. Annual holidays and holiday flights to and from up to a certain level, workers comp is provided. The yacht runs with 5 permanent crew, and on charter 6 crew.

Qualifications

Australian Master 4 or more, STCW95. Strong ocean sailing skills and strong management skills are a MUST. Candidates must be able to work in Australia.

Itinerary

Currently on the East Coast of Australia, will be sailing in North Queensland and moving to Sydney for the summer. Some refit time will be fitted in before sailing in the Pacific mid 2010 and possibly making a base in Tahiti for a time.

Full-time. Crew contracts are provided. At least a 12 month commitment required, preferably longer term. Three month probation period.
Salary:
$10,000 AUD per month, negotiable to the right candidate with relevant experience.

» CHIEF MATE POSITION ON 50m EXPEDITION YACHT (PRIVATE)

Work Information:

A 50m Expedition yacht is currently searching for a Chief Mate to join their crew of 9. The yacht is currently located in South Africa, however the vessel will be based in the Indian Ocean area to do under water filming and VIP dive expedition. It is a busy hard working yacht so you need to have a hard working attitude and good flexible personality. The yacht is looking for a real team player with an enthusiastic attitude. The yacht was built in 1981 however it had an extensive refit last year and is now nearing the end of the 1st year of operations. The yacht is fully equipped with tenders, submarine, recompression chambers and amphibious microlight aircraft.

Itinerary

South Africa and then based in the Indian Ocean to do under water film making.

Qualifications

STCW95, OOW, Australian Class IV, strong diving background including technical skills, excellent tender skills.

» BOSUN/WATCH KEEPER POSITION ON 50m EXPEDITION YACHT (PRIVATE)

Work Information:

A 50m Expedition yacht is currently searching for a Bosun/Watch keeper to join their crew of 9. The yacht is currently located in South Africa, however the vessel will be based in the Indian Ocean area to do under water filming and VIP dive expedition. » DECKHAND POSITION ON 51M MOTOR YACHT (PRIVATE)

Work Information:

A 51m motor yacht (Private) is currently searching for a deckhand to join their crew of 11. The yacht is currently in Australia. They require the candidate to be between the ages of mid 20’s to mid 30’s. The crew-member must have some experience on super yachts the yacht is prepared to do some on board training with you. The candidate must have knowledge and experience driving tenders, jet skis, tying knots and splicing. Medical insurance is provided as soon as the candidate joins the yacht, four weeks holiday leave per year and a bonus scheme is provided. Having some sailing experience would be a bonus especially on small sailing yacht, as the yacht has two lasers and two Hobbie Cats.

Flight s will be covered to the yacht however it does depend on the person’s experience.

The Nationalities on board are as follows: Australian, New Zealanders, and British. The yacht will source crew from anywhere however would prefer crew that are in the Southern Hemisphere. The yacht will provide a standard crew Contract. We ideally want crew to commit to at least one year but as per the contract there is a trial period of 3 months. Either Party can terminate the agreement during the 3 month probation period. The yacht would consider first timers starting out in the industry however they should have the below qualifications in place before applying for this position.

Itinerary

Currently in Australia and cruising remote places in the South Pacific. The rest of the itinerary is unknown at this stage.

Qualifications

STCW95, ENG1 Medical, Boat handling license, eventually the yacht will be back in the States so the candidate will require obtaining the B1/B2 visa down the track but no hurry, if you hold a B1/B2 visa now it would be a bonus to you. If you hold diving tickets this is a bonus as well. Must have a nice outgoing personality at all times and willing to help other team members.

» A 2ND STEWARDESS POSITION FOR 125FT SAILING YACHT (PRIVATE)

Work Information:

A Private 125ft sailing yacht (Palmer Johnson Schooner) which is currently in New Zealand, Cayman Island flagged is currently looking for a 2nd stewardess to join their crew of 7. The crew-member needs to be between the ages of Mid 20’s to Mid 30’s The yacht was built in 1991 and a 10 month refit 2006/2007 and 3 month refit in 2007. The yacht is mostly used with only the owners on board. The owner uses the yacht for extended periods of time. Very understanding and accommodating owner. They understand the needs of the crew. The tender and water toys are available to crew to use for recreation however great care is taken. The owners are not demanding and very seldom invite guests to sail on board. Crew quarters are very spacious with flat screen satellite T.V in crew mess. Hundreds of DVD’s available on central entertainment system.

The crew-member needs to be a

  • non smoker – this is a must.
  • No tattoos which are visible when wearing uniform.
  • Must not have any special dietaries; such as Kosher, vegetarian, organic food. The yacht enjoys great healthy meals but do not carter for individual preferences.
  • Only want single crew no boyfriends or girlfriends working on another yacht. Must show interest and be prepared to provide longevity in the industry, "no seasonal crew allowed" or need apply.
  • Referees and written references must be provided as the yacht will check that these are legit. Crew-member must be a team player as all crew assist in docking, fenders, lines and launching tenders.
  • The yacht all works towards common goal of offering the owners a great time on a well cared yacht. The yacht is looking for good honest, clean cut, hard working and fun loving candidates who have a sense of responsibility and pride. Even though the yacht works hard, they also have a lot of fun on board, such snorkelling, BBQ on the beach, Diving and water skiing.

We offer full medical insurance - including dental after 3 months, 30 days paid vacation, up to $ 750 towards plane ticket for vacation; time for courses can be accommodated once the crew member has established his longevity and good intent.

Extra information:

  • A crew member will have to successfully complete a three month probation period. After the successful completion of the probation period, a crew member will have to complete an additional three months to qualify for the bonus.

The crew arrangements are as follows:

Captain and Chief stewardess are married and have been on board they share a cabin.
Engineer – Own Cabin On board
Chef – Own Cabin – on board
Mate – Own Cabin on board
Second Stewardess - share cabin with Deckhand
Deckhand – share cabin with Second Stewardess

Itinerary

Yacht is presently in New Zealand, in the yard and plans to depart Auckland, New Zealand at the end of April 2010. The itinerary for the rest of 2010 will include a voyage through Vanuatu, the Solomon Island’s and Micronesia before ending the year in Sydney. You will be in remote places so if you are a party person this position will not work for you.

Qualifications

STCW95 Must have at least 6 months experience on sailing yachts of 100ft plus. Must not get sea sick.
